If you are thinking about visiting with us or you've come only once or a few times, you might be wondering how you can get involved with our church. Here are six things you can do:

1. Worship with us on Sunday Mornings

Sunday morning is the central gathering of our church. It is where we worship God, encounter God, hear the Word of God taught, pray, serve each other with our gifts and abilities, fellowship, and...drink coffee. The New Testament paints a clear picture that a church is to meet together regularly (Heb. 10:24-25; 1 Cor. 14:26). We start our meetings at 10am, and they usually last until around 12pm.

2. Stop by One of Our Home Groups

The Christian life is not meant to be lived a lone. God calls us to be connected to other Christians in growing relationships, and these become a key vehicle for us to grow and live out the life he calls us to. Our small groups are a vital piece of this puzzle. We call them "home groups" only because they meet in people's homes. These groups help us to grow as disciples of Jesus, and they provide a great way for us to serve one another, love one another, and bear one another's burdens, all things that the Lord commands us to do as Christians. Usually these gatherings include a time for singing, discussion, prayer, and fellowship around some food. Go here to learn more about where and when they meet.

3. Ask Questions

There are many people in the church who can answer various questions you have. If it's a Sunday morning, go to the Information Table in the lobby or ask an usher or any volunteer. You can call the office (919-362-4420) during the week. Our pastors (elders) are also eager to get to know you and help you in any way we can. Whether it is advice about a problem, a question about the church or our denomination, or simply to talk about what God is doing in your life, we would love a chance to talk with you. We meet with people in the office or about anywhere else that works for you. There aren't many coffee shops in the Triangle we haven't hit at one time or another.

4. Get Involved with One of Our Ministries

Sovereign Grace Church has a growing number of ministries you can get involved with. Some of these groups are dedicated to helping us grow (youth group, mens and women's meetings, Royal Rangers and Keepers for our boys and girls), and other ministries allow us to serve others (mission trips to Guatemala, involvement with Habitat-for-Humanity, Hand of Hope crisis pregnancy center, Dorcas Ministries, etc.). Go here to learn about some of the different ministries we have.

5. Sign Up for the New Members Class

If you've been coming for a little while and have a growing sense that this could be the church the Lord wants you to join, then maybe it's time to sign up for one of our new members classes. These are run twice a year (September, February) and cover a lot of what we believe and practice. The goal of the class is not to pressure you into joining but to help you discern whether this is the church for you. We love questions about what we believe and do as a church, and the elders who teach the class love the chance to get to know you throughout the classes.

6. Join the Church

The last step in developing your relationship with Sovereign Grace Church is to actually join the church. Membership requires the new members class and also that you have been baptized in water as a believer. During the membership interview with one of the pastors we'll ask some questions to help confirm that SGC is the right fit for you. Our desire here is to serve people well. We want nothing more for you than for you to be in the church that God wants for you. We hope it's ours!
