Jackie Curtis and God’s Power to Heal

We recently heard from David and Beth Curtis that Jackie, their oldest daughter, was healed of her chronic hearing loss. The weeks have gone on, but the miracle has remained. We asked her to write up her testimony so we could share it with you. Here is what she said:

I lost my hearing during freshman year in high school as a result of a hereditary genetic issue. Hearing aids and lip reading allowed me to outwardly continue life as normal, but inwardly things were a little different. My inability to follow conversations in large groups, understand teachers in class and function in noisy environments left me increasingly frustrated and lonely.

I started school at ECU in 2014 and continued pretending to be okay – outwardly appearing to be normal, while inwardly fighting isolation that no one seemed to understand. God sovereignly brought me to Victory Campus Ministries (VCM) my first week at ECU, and I was blown away by the genuineness of the people there. Slowly but surely, God softened my heart and began to tear down my façade of normality. The hearing loss, which I pretended did not bother me, gradually transformed from a secret burden to a challenge that I was no longer ashamed of.

As part of VCM, I had the opportunity to attend a regional conference hosted by our parent organization, Every Nation Campus. I went to the conference without specific expectations beyond growing in my faith and security in God. During a time of extended worship and ministry after the last session of the conference, God far exceeded these expectations.

It was prophesied that very specific healings would occur, including the deaf being able to hear. Immediately after this prophecy was spoken, the girls on either side of me knelt with me and prayed in faith for my healing. The three of us prayed in the Spirit for a while, and when we stopped, I could hear PERFECTLY!

Now, a month and a half later, I’m still at a loss for words. That God would choose to use a broken vessel like me to display his glory and power is beyond my comprehension.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
