I was at lunch recently with a member of our church. He asked me if SGC still believes in church planting. What?! The question sobered me because it revealed that we haven't said as much about church planting in the last year or so as we have in previous eras. So, a few things on this issue.
Hi! This winter, I will be taking a course called Perspectives that is about the role each believer plays in God's plan to reach the nations. It is put together by the US Center for World Mission, the publishers of Mission Frontiers magazine.
A few weeks ago we had our 2013 Family Meeting, a time to annually come together and think about the past year and the year ahead. This year we felt particularly led to focus on the year ahead. God is doing great things in our church, and we wanted to cast vision along those lines.
Money Magazine has ranked Apex, North Carolina #9 (out of 50) in its list of the best small towns to live in. Here's what they said about our town of 40,000 people:
Redeeming Grace Church is being planted out of our sister church in Knoxville. Dave Odom will be the senior pastor. They were officially sent out on April 7 and hope to hold their first meeting in Nashville on October 13. Praise God the gospel continues to go forth! Here is a video and report on the commissioning.
Over the last couple of weeks we've been looking at SGC's vision, answering the question, What is SGC to be about? I hope the answer to that question has been made a bit clearer through these blog posts. But there is one last piece of the puzzle to consider.
